I am awaiting delivery of a tosh sd350e.
With both this and my plasma being HD the obvious link between the 2 is a HDMI cable. BUT.... What Hi-Fi say in their recent review of the sd350e, that the component connection gave a better picture ??
Has anyone out there with this player tried both. If so what is your opinion ?. If your set up is either/or how do you find the picture ?.

Yeah i'm debating whether to 'upgrade' from my Tosh 330....been reading the thread saying interlaced component is better than progressive on LCD's (something to do with the LCD changing it to progressive anyway)

This makes me wonder why bother changing as my 330 does component interlaced out anyway ?!?!

I have just got the 350E (hooked via HDMI) and cant see what all th fuss is about to be honest. The pic looks no better than it did with the £25 asda special dvd i had previously.

HDMI is not going to be an option come the new year anyway once I get the HD Sky box so I guess I will have to rely on a different connection come then :)

    Hi jayboro,

Did you test the component connection (interlaced or progressive) ? If yes, what are your thoughts ?
Would you recomend this player ?

PS: BTW, what display do you have ?

    Thanks

Dont bother if you have tosh 330 the 350 is more user friendly faster and possibly better pq but comp i>hdmi>comp-p

dont touch sami 850 unless you want upscaling with component.

    My display is 42pd7200 hitachi

    azz (compaed sami 850 tosh 330 tosh350 phillips 5100)

Azz, i see that you've compared the samsung hd850 against the toshiba 350e. Just wondering if you could answer the following: In your opinion which player produced:

    1. best upscaled picture via hdmi?
    2. best upscaled picture regardless of whether it was via hdmi or component?

Your advice would be much appreciated, cheers

Richer Sounds price matched a Tosh SD 350 for £99 to £68 (Pixmania) this weekend, if you are thinking about buying.
