Just bought the SD-330 DVD player (multi-region). Tried a region 1 disc and comes up black and white. My TV is a Grundig 32" widescreen about 3 years old. Previous player was a Wharfdale DVD-750.Region 1's were not a problem. WHat's the problem here, the player or the TV??

    1. are you using S-Video or scart to connect it (I assum that you can't use component)?

Check the menu to make sure that you sending the correct signal, you have 3 choices, try all three until one works.

    1. Check if the TV is NTSC compatible, if not use RGB via Scart but make sure to enable RGB output at the player and that you use a fully wired Scart cable. Also check that the TV actually supports RGB on that input.

    2. Check if the DVD Player has an option to change the video signal output and set it to PAL if option 1. can't work for some reason

Don't think my TV is NTSC compatible. Can I play region 1 discs on this player in colour at all or have I just made a massive "boo-boo". If not can anyone recommend a good sub £150 player that CAN play region 1 discs.
Strange, I had a Wharfdale DVD-750 that could play the discs on my TV no problem with a hack and after "upgrading" to the Toshiba Multi-region player I CAN'T play the discs.

I had the same problem when I got my parents a 330 and asked on the forum a similar question. I will have a look and post a link as I got it cured.

As REiner said use fully wired RGB scart and set TV to RGB(av1 normally) and DVD to RGB( in menu)

Toshiba's have often been a bit funny with NTSC discs- their way of saying that you shouldn't have chipped it?
