    All,
has anyone experienced picture problems with Tosh. SD 220E DVD player. I intermittently get picture break up , blocks / lines appearing and the picture then freezes then releases but sometime freezes permanently !!

Had a similar problem with my old Toshiba 210. Have you tried a lens cleaner?

There is quite a lot of info on this. Do a search.

What version 22o have you got. They have a thing called firmware which says which version it is. Versions 1.3 had a lot of problems. mine is 1.4 which I believe is OK, I think it is on 1.5 or even higher now.

It says on the box, if you still have it.

I got my old Toshiba SD 3109 firmware upgraded to 2 .4 from Toshiba which has helped in a lot of problems. It even plays Verbatim DVD-r which it never done before.

Personally I'd start by making sure the discs are clean first...
If they are then all of the above :)

Yes, dirty disks. I found my m/c gave all kinds of problems similar to yours when it encountered debris on the disk surface...fingerprints, dust etc. Cleaned the disk and problems disappeared.

My 220E has Ver 1.5 which seems to be latest version.

Is there such a thing as a DVD disc cleaner or does the m/c need opened to clean the lens ?
