Toshiba RDXS34 - Can it record an NTSC source?

Standard Member

I have a UK spec Toshiba RDXS34 Hard Disk DVD Recorder. I have my VHS plugged into it via the Yellow/White/Red LINE inputs on the front of the DVD deck.

When I try to record an NTSC VHS tape I get an improper picture. It's colour, but jerky and the very top of the picture wraps round to the bottom of the screen, separated from the bottom of the picture by an inch thick bar of black and noise.

I'm guessing the DVD recorder can't process the NTSC input properly. Is there a setting I can change, or am I stuffed? My video deck IS NTSC compatible, as is my TV, and can play the tape fine, when the DVD recorder is not in the loop.
