So I just got a 46" Samsung DLP with an LG 1200w Home Theater System (comes with a dvd recorder/player). I also got a Toshiba HDMI DVD player..

So I have the LG Receiver connected with regular red/yellow/white cables to the TV's video/audio out.. (haven't gotten component cables for this yet)

Then I have my Toshiba DVD player connected to my TV with HDMI..

This works nicely but the catch is I can't play DTS through my Toshiba DVD player. If I play a dvd with the LG dvd player DTS works fine (but the picture sucks). Dolby Digital works perfectly with the Toshiba but for some reason the DTS doesn't. Does anyone have any idea why its doing this?

Would I have to connect the Toshiba to the LG dvd player with coaxial or optical whatever? Or maybe using component cables with the LG to the tv would do it?

    any help is appreciated, thanks
    basil

Try set your audio output in the Toshiba to Bitstream and not PCM.

you need to connect the Toshiba DVD to the LG home cinema unit, using either a co-axial or optical digital lead. if you use anything else, all you will get is stereo or analogue surround.
