Toshiba HD-E1 only does flag deinterlacing

I've been testing the HD-E1 with Peter Finzel Test Disc, which is a german PAL test DVD.

2:2 with film flags: deinterlaces correctly, full resolution.
2:2 with video flags: the static background is full resolution, while the moving parts are half resolution. This results in jagged edges around moving objects.

This player only does flag reading deinterlacing. The majority of UK DVD's are not correctly flagged as film, which means when there is motion you are only getting half the vertical resolution. This is a shame because even the cheapest upscalers are capable of detecting a 2:2 cadence.

DVD players that do pass this test: Sony PS3 (although only at 576p), Sony DVP-NS76H, all the players based around the Zoran Vaddis 888 including Samsung and Toshiba upscalers.

I don't suppose you know if the Oppo 981 passes this test?

If not, hopefully Nic R will see this and advise :)
