Welcome to the forum.

Evidently the DVD recorder is an old model which only has an analogue tuner.

[ If you provide the model number that can be confirmed].

It may be possible to record from the TV depending on the connectivity capabilities of both the TV and the recorder... but it is a hopeless way to record in any case, as the TV must be on, and if recording, it ties you to the programme being recorded.

The ideal would be a more modern recorder with it's own Freeview tuner.
Failing that you could add a cheap Freeview STB to feed into the existing recorder.

hi thanks for replying. its actually about 5 year old and i gave it to someone a few days ago as i have only used it a few times. i think the best thing they can do is invest in a new one thanks for you help anyway. Jasmin
