Hello,

Its been a while since I sat down and calibrated my hardware, so last night I decided to do the lot with my HD-DVD Video Essentials disk. The first thing I noticed was how dark the E1 looks after using this disk???

Can someone remined me of best practices for Video on the E1 i.e. Picture Settings in the menu.

Someone was suggesting VIDEO rather than AUTO for watching HD??

My hardware list:

Panny PX60 50inch
Tosh E1
Yamaha AV1600
HDMI

Also, I rememeber someone suggesting settings for Dolby TrueHD on this forum to do away with the quiet center channel problem.

BTW, dialogue enhancement is off.

Please advise on how your systems are configured so I can play.:)

I would leave the setting at "Auto" unless you only plan on watching "video" based source. Most HD DVD is "film" and setting it to video will force the cadence to video I guess.

Could just be you prefer the brightness level higher than what is considered optimal.

Have you tried "dialogue enh" on ?
