I am considering to buy one of these but i would like to know which one is the best.

    The Hitachi 55"

    Pros:

    Progressive Scan

    Cons:

    Weight

    The Toshiba 57"

    Pros:

    Weight

    Cons:

    No Progressive Scan

What tubes does both of these RPTVs use?

Does Hitachi got better electronics due to it can handle Progressive Scan which means it can take higher bandwith.

Whats the reason Toshiba skipped Progressive Scan?
    Keep the costs down?

Anyway, if anyone seen both side by side i would be happy if you could tell me which one you liked better.

Well i own the 43"Hitachi and think it out performes the tosh and the progressive scan feature works well with R1 discs, i know of someone owning the 46" Tosh and the lines get on his wick!
Other than that these sets are hard to pick fault with i would own either, the price you want to pay would probabaly clinch it thats why so many go for the Tosh.
When i bought my set it was up against the older Tosh versions which i thought ugly and the build quality seemed pi.. poor. The new versions seem a lot better [looks wise].
I must add though that the prog scan on my set is not true prog scan but it makes a much better picture than 100htz!
