Anyone know anything about this model?
How does it compare to the Pioneer PDP503HDE?
I think it is a re-badged Panasonic 5 series, therefore it should be a good display and should out perform the 503HDE.
The Toshiba 50WP27 is a rebadged Panasonic. You should note that the TU-PT600B tuner is not available for the Toshiba.
Thanks for your help guy's, but is there an alternative tuner available for this?
Why the requirement to have a tuner?
If its switching there are better ways of doing it.
If its for Teletext then you can add in a £140 external box to any Plasma Display that will give you Teletext and also give your Composite and S-video signals a bit of a clean up in the process.
If your after the convenience of the PlasmaTV (including the external Switcher/Tuner) rather than the Plasma Display (No Tuner or SCART inputs) and dont want to use external switching and conversion with one of the Display models then I would stick with the Pioneer PDP-503HDE; we have many customers using these and the smaller 43" model and no major complaints.
Thanks for your advice.
The reason I was after a tuner was twofold, one I'm a plasma "virgin" so I'm not really sure what I need and the second is that I want to retain the benefits and functionality of my current CRT TV.
Basially I want to retain connectivity (including component and SCART), teletext and PIP. I'm not certain if the first point can be overcome when I upgrade my Amp and use that as a switch box. As an additional constraint I will be moving to Australia in the next 5 to 6 months so want to make sure anything I get will work there.
Can I use my current Sky box to receive signals?
And finally would this mean that the MXE version of this monitor is a better option or is it an inferior model.
Many thanks for you help
