Toshiba 4K TV decoding issues?

Very strange thing happened 15 minutes ago. The TV was on and working fine. I was about to help fix a friend's Firestick so I pulled ours out and put theirs in. When it switched on I just had a completely Purple screen. Thinking Their stick was totally goosed I swapped our Firestick back in only for it to boot up with the purple hue as well. I then thought I'd damaged the HDMI socket. However when I flicked over to our Virgin box it too had the image issue.

Bizarrely however all of thr menus are correctly coloured and things like the internal Netflix app work perfectly fine, right up until you actually try to watch something.

What's up?

Tried pulling the power for 10-15mins?
By your description you hot-swapped the Firestick, if so that's not recommended, TV's should always be switched off before inserting/removing HDMI connections.
 
Turns out it's a common Virgin Media issue. No idea how it impacts other HDMI sources and built in apps but a reboot of thr VM TV box done the job.
