I have the noted television which has been reliable until about 4-6 weeks ago.

Noted that when power switch pressed the set sometimes made a crackling noise from around the bottom left where the switch was.

Resorted to leaving switch on and using standby button instead. This seemed to fix the issue until today when the set made a crackling noise out the blue (when in standby) and then shortly after I pressed the standby button and the set lost all power completely (no red or green LED).

Otherwise the set appears to be be operational i.e. screen , backlight etc. all ok.

Does anyone have any ideas what the cause might be before I open it to inspect it?.

I have a spare switch so can replace that easily without ordering other parts. Is it possible that the connections on the switch have burnt out.

TIA

This series of Toshiba TV's are prone to mains on-off switch failures so yes, it probably is the switch that has finally given up.
OBSERVE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS BEFORE OPENING UP BY UNPLUGGING MAINS POWER PLUG.
