The new Tosh X series is now on sale in Comet for £1199 for teh 42" model and a mere £999 for the 37inch. Not bad for a 1080p set from a renowned manufacturer.

Available for delivery on and after 7th May.

    Woohoo.

Just need confirmation of spec details, i.e. are hdmi sockets hdmi 1.3 and if so, what implication does this have?

Toshiba takes wraps off extensive new LCD TV range

Twelve months after the successful launch of the inaugural REGZA series, Toshiba has now unveiled its latest REGZA range – which adds up to its largest LCD line-up yet.

The new models will be split over four new ranges: the entry-level C Series, the step-up X Series, the Picture Frame X Series, and the range-topping Z Series.

Getting into more detail on these, the C series comprises 26in, 32in, 37in and 42in models, all bearing Freeview tuners and Toshiba’s Active Vision LCD processing. All but the 26in version have two HDMIs, too. The C Series are out now, wearing a neat matt black finish, with the prices for the 32in, 37in and 42in models being around £699, £899 and £999 respectively.

The X Series, meanwhile, due to launch by the middle of this month, introduces ‘full HD’ resolution to the fray, with all three models in the range – 32in, 37in and 42in – boasting native pixel counts of 1920x1080. Each screen also has two 1080p-capable HDMIs, a Freeview tuner, and Toshiba’s Active Vision LCD processing. Impressively the HDMIs on the X series are also HDMI 1.3 jobs, and so can take advantage of HDMI 1.3 features such as Deep Colour.

The new Picture Frame models due in September introduce a remarkable new screen bezel that’s barely 1.5cm wide, and come in 40in and 46in flavours (costing around £1500 and £1800 respectively). These are full HD models too, sporting three HDMIs, digital tuners, and Active Vision processing.

Finally we come to the Z Series. Available in 37in, 42in, 47in, 52in and 57in sizes starting at £1299 for the 37in and going up to £3,499 for the 57in, these full HD models are the only ones in Toshiba’s new range to use the company’s impressive M100 ‘100Hz’-style processing system to improve the appearance of motion. They will also have three HDMIs, Active Vision processing, and a digital tuner when they launch in September.
