    I am thinking to buy 42PW27. I assumed that it's Panasonic 5
clone but then have read some threads which say that in February this year Toshiba was going to switch to NEC screens.
    Now it is almost MAy.

    Could somebody provide more detailes?

Other question. Is it better to go for Pioneer ... but it doesn't have PAL progressive scan...

    Thank you.

The Toshiba model you are considering is a Panasonic 5 Series clone - the next generation of Toshiba panels looks to be the first of the models with the NEC produced glass; when this happens you will see a new model number and specification.

Which Pioneer model are you considering? the HDE PlasmaTV models dont accept Progressive PAL but the MXE Plasma Display models do.

    Best regards

    Thank you Joe.

I am actually considering MXE version - and it's good to hear that it supports PAL progressive scan.

Still main question - which one - Toshiba or Pioneer.
Toshiba has two years warranty - big plus ... and it's cheaper.

What about noise produced by these two plasmas - which one is better?

Joe, you are dealing with plasmas all the time so what will be your advice?

One extra piece of information. I am watching a lot of 4:3 material from satellite with sometimes not ideal quality. Which plasma will do better in this case?
