After only four days use - I have noticed that if the black band of widescreen broadcasts is being displayed via DVD or TV broadcasts via any of the picture modes e.g. cinema, super live etc; the top band is slanted down, approximately .5 inch when running from the the middle to the outside left edge of the frame.

The bottom black band is totally straight.

I have noted the comments regards entering the service menu, as it contains greater options over the convergence - but I am unsure if this would sort out such a geometry problem?

Am I better off calling for a service engineer, or moreover, having the set replaced??

Call an engineer, that is what the guarantee is for! The geometry needs adjusting.
