I have played around with the settings over a week or two & with the help of the DVE disk I have arrived at the following settings which is the best compromise for the DVD player via VGA & sky+ via RGB scart.
    backlight 60
    contrast 70
    brightness 37
    colour 35
    tint 0
    sharpness -20
    blackstretch off
    MPEGNR off
    DNR off
    colour temp normal
This gives me a DVD picture thst is slightly too light & a sky picture slightly too dark but both are very watchable. Have yet to try using HDMI input.
    Hope this is useful.
