Can anyone confirm whether there are any differencies between the P46 and P48 models other than sound (Nicam vs 5.1)??

If the picture quality, etc is identical I am going to order the P46 at this price.

    Many thanks!

yes i can answer that my self. They are the same picture wise. According to the specs on thier website. Sound wise it's missing the dd 5.1, co-axial audio, optical audio, speakers and i think it may have a different stand. Other than that, the same.
Perfect box for those with a sound set up already.
    Where's the credit card?

Is the code given the one that gets just free delivery or the other discount also?

I posted about a similar deal at John Lewis on the 48Z including the SD240 DVD player - it is now removed from their website!!!

    regards

Just got off the phone to someone at Toshiba customer services who, after initially sounding confused, spoke to someone and confirmed that the only differences between the 2 models are: -

    1) The sound (Nicam vs 5.1).

    2) The P46 is exclusive to Dixons and Currys (no idea why).

I am off to place an order for the P46 @ £799 with free delivery - I wouldn't be using the integral 5.1 with the P48 anyway so this seems a perfect deal for me!

Anyone know what this beast weighs. I can get it from my local Currys but there is just me and the good lady wife to move it and set it up. Do you think we can lift it between us.
I tried to lift a corner of the set on display and it seemed very heavy.
    Cheers Chris

Its a monster aint it :)
For what its worth it took me and the wife an age to get our 32" set up so
a 36" is going to be heavier.Either get a few mates round or pay currys to set it up.

The TV alone according to the box is 75.5kg, in the box it's 85kg. It is possible to move yourself, I had to shift it up 2 flights of stairs and into my bedroom on my own after the John Lewis delivery blokes basically told me they were'nt chancing it as they didn't think it would fit.

Lifting onto the stand, however, was something else. I tried to get my sister to lift one end of it but there was no chance of her getting it off the floor. I had to lift it from the front, holding under the right speaker on the side of the panel where it shows you to lift, and the top left hand side of the screen, I could get this up to my knees on my own and with her help we then got it onto the stand. A word of warning though, my back didn't like it one bit :)

Try, if you can, to get a mate or at least a random bloke to help, I'm hardly huge at only 5 8" and 70kg but I do bench over 90kg and I found this pretty hard.

Hmm sounds like this may be just too much to handle. We are renovating a bungalow so will need to move it around quite a lot :( :( .
Looks like it could be the 32ZP46 for me. I guess this is the same as the 32ZP48 without the 5.1 sound gizmos.
Anyone recommend a place to buy?
    Cheers Chris

The 46 model is only available through Dixon's and Curry's, as far as I am aware, so you will have some difficulty in undertaking price comparisons.

Cant bring myself to pay the same for the 32" as the 36" so I guess I will have to wait till they do a promotion on it.

Why not order online and have them deliver it to your home? There are free delivery codes elsewhere on this thread and you can pay a little extra for them to set the TV up for you.

Well I started about 2 years ago on 20kg, that was an effort for me back then :), just put on another 5 - 10kg every few months and got to this level.

Back on topic though, this TV really is something else, well worth it at this price and I'm not even a bit peeved about paying around £1250 a few weeks before this price drop.

Hi Guys, Just to let you know that I have found another difference, between the 46 and the 48. I got a 32zp46 yesterday (Comet are doing these for £699) and on checking my mates 36zp48 last night his has a 'Geomagnetic adjustment' option although to be honest I don't really know what this does...

The store I bought from had 4 TVs in stock but no stands :( so I'm waiting for one of those now. Seems very weird that Currys are totally out of stock of the 36s, maybe Toshiba were going to introduce a model without the DD but decided to knock it on the head and shift them all though Comet and Currys?

Also, I don't know if I should ask this here but the picture on mine seems to slant up very slightly on the bottom righthand fifth of the picture. Is this something I should be worry about / consider getting exchanged?

The GeoMagnetic option adjusts the skew of the screen, apparently because 36" tubes are so large the earths magnetic field can make the image slanted, this sorts the problem up to a point.

I had to set mine to -6 and it's near perfect now, and it goes up to +20 -20 iirc.

According to the manual it's only 36" models that have the geomagnetic adjustment option (both the ZP46 and ZP48). Yours won't have it as it's a 32" set.

Hi Spartacus, do you think the info from Currys was accurate with regard to not having more stock? I called them earlier today and the person I spoke to didn't have any info one way or the other - just wondered if you know the source was reliable. A local store is expecting a delivery next week but I can get some discount online so I may have to forget this and pay full whack (still a good price though!).
