Toshiba 32ZT29

I'm looking to purchase a Toshiba 32ZT29 widescreen idTV.

A number of web retailers are selling these very cheaply at the moment, in particular:

www.digitaldirectuk.com

www.soundandvisiononline.com

www.totaldigital.biz

(though judging by their websites, the first two look like different variations of the same company).

As far as I'm aware John Lewis won't price match with any of these suppliers (and I'm not sure that they stock that particular Toshiba anyway).

So, can anybody recommend (or disrecommend) any of the above suppliers.

Thanks

I ordered my 32ZT29 on Saturday from Sound and Vision. www.soundandvisiononline.co.uk.

As I wanted the TV delivering to my new house and not the credit card address, I had to go to their shop in Farnworth, but it's not too far away for me.
I could have had the TV right away, but I'm not ready for it yet! Their price includes free delivery.

My dad has had 2 TVs off them in the past with no issues.

They had the Toshiba setup (properly with digital signal) along side similar JVC and Panasonic TVs and the Toshiba looked the best cabinet and the best picture.

The only problem I experienced was they had said the price in the shop would be the same as the internet price, but when I got home I realised they'd charged me £780 instead of £768.99. Phoned on Monday and they said they would refund the difference.

I was going to get it from www.Digitaldirectuk.com, I called and their guy was very helpful and explained why the TVs were cheap (different stand - open not covered) - but they said delivery could be 7 to 10 days and Sound and Vision are local and we've delt with them before.

Sound and Vision also gave me a £20 discount on a component lead, and I bought a 3 year extended Warranty for £89.

Hope this helps.:)

Why don't John Lewis Price Match those companies? Did they give a reason?

They tell me it's not a model they keep in stock. Apparently their price-matching policy only applies to 'stock items'.

Everything seems to have gone pretty smoothly. I ordered the TV on Fri 13th (was I pushing my luck or wot!), and was told that the couriers would phone me on the following Tuesday or Wednesday to arrange a delivery time. Wednesday passed and no call, so I phoned S&V on Thursday. They seemed genuinely apologetic, and said they would sort it, and true to their word the courier phoned on Friday and it was delivered the next day.

The set is extremely heavy (~60kg), and came with a flat pack self-assembly stand (~24kg). The stand consists of a chipboard base and top with a single glass shelf between. It's fairly roughly constructed, with some angles a bit off, but this didn't cause any problems in assembly, and once complete it looked OK.

The set itself is very impressive, whilst I can only get a couple of MUX's with my existing aerial (I'll have to get it upgraded) the quality of the digital channels is stunning. Analogue channels appear a little softer as mentioned in the reviews - but still very good.

The only gripe I have is that it doesn't look as if you can record digital channels without the set being switched on (it doesn't appear to work in Standby mode). Perhaps most idTV's behave that way? Unfortunately I don't have a NexTView compatible VCR so am unable to test if it's possible using timer recording from the TV itself.

The set came with four SS-V19 speakers which are very small but seem OK, though I've not bothered with the rear speakers as yet.

Overall I'd certainly recommend the set. I see the price has dropped a further £20. Good job I used my Barclaycard so I should be able to get it refunded using their 'Price Promise', along with extending the guarantee for a further year.
