Get the 9617. You cannot fault any of it. Superb!

Well lots of people can and have faulted it but I wouldn't change mine for any other CRT on the market (except maybe the 9618) :p

I bought mine after an unhappy experience with a Tosh... poor geometry and dirty patches on the screen. At the end of the day the best TV for you is the one your eyes like best. Get a demo!

Good luck with the hunt ;)

...and buy from a reputable retailer, preferably with a long warranty (eg. JL or HOF). Both will price match, or you can use a Barclaycard.

Given the poor QC and appalling reliablity of Philips (and other manufacturers) sets, be wary, be very wary

My Philips set (32pw9527) had black bars from day 1 and died with a blown tube after 11 months  Apparently this is not uncommon.

My new Panasonic set (PD30) has colour staining and dirty marks on the screen. Currently awaiting (1st?) replacement from HOF...

    Just my 2p'th.... ;) :)
