Toshiba 32ZD26P

HI,

anyone out there own one of these sets? I was quite impressed when I saw one on display in a store the other day (though the stand looked a bit bulky for my taste).

Looking through these forums, I can't see any bad comments about them. The 36" seems to have a vision problem, and the 28" seems to have a buzzing sound issue, but no mention of problems on the 32"?

I've sen it onle for £900 at Prcdirect, so I am tempted now, I was going to go for the Sony 32LS60.

Any opinions on this set, or on using PRCdirect? I'm nervy of buying a tv set online, though I am assuming that if I have a problem they will send an engineer out the same as if I got one at John Lewis?

Thanks in advance.

HI Both, thanks for your replies. I have worked my way through most of the 50+ pages of that thread, and I can't see anything against the 32" in there, still a few pages to go though!

And thanks for the comments on PRC. I've found another retailer called RGB who seem to get a thumbs up in the DVD Forums supplier threads, who do it at the same price as PRC.

cheers

I ordered a 36ZD26P (I'll hopefully be able to live with the black bars...) from RGBdirect on Saturday afternoon.

Rang them this morning to ask when to expect delivery and the guy said 'You'll get a phone call about that soon'. Er, I was ON the phone to them?!?

Apparently delivery is direct from Toshiba and might take up to 10 days. Hmm, not pleased with that. I'll also be having to get the TV out of the box to get it in my front door so I'll have a chance to inspect it before the delivery guy leaves. If there's anything remotely wrong with it, it'll be going back there and then.

JUBOY i did not buy from rgb but the faults were

1 edges were bad like when someone was standing at the edge of the screen they looked white but when they came in to the middle they were ok.

2 the sides of the screen wobbled really bad on dark stuff like xfiles.

3 it had a white mark about 4" thick the full width of the screen.

4 when watching dvd the top & bottom bars were bent in the middle.it looked like there was a magnet at the back of the tv pulling it in at the middle.

I've ordered a TOshiba 32ZD26.

I had a phone call today (I placed initial order on Friday but heard nothing back until Monday) from RGB telling me that they would order direct from Toshiba for about a ten day delay.

I also ordered at PRC on Friday and they responded next day, telling me that they had one 32ZD26 in stock but that it was damaged so they could not let me have it. They then said 10 days. 30mins later they called back to say they had found one in stock at another supplier and could deliver on Friday. I ordered from them as they resonded quickest.

Now I'm panicking what with stories of repackaged goods. Out of your experience, if it is brown taped should I open and inspect it there and then? Should I expect a Toshiba sealed box and nothing else?

Please help!

just check that if it has brown tape on the box, then it should be all around the box. If not, then inspect under the brown tape for
signs of clear tape underneath, if any is found, then I think you can make your own mind up!.

Prospective 32ZD26P buyers might want to give Sound and Vision at Bolton a call or email. I ordered one from them on Friday evening. Phoned up and told them the cheapest quoted price delivered was £903 from either RGB or Robertsons. They said they'd check the quoted price out themselves and call me back shortly. Sure enough, five minutes later they called back and said they'd beat the price at £899 delivered. They also use a specialist two man delivery team whom give you a ring within 3 days and arrange an exact time and day of delivery. Apparently, they also carry the set to which ever room it's required, set it up and only accept a signature once everything’s confirmed as working and in perfect order. They also stock the televisions themselves, so no fortnight delays backordering from manufacturers or the sort. The delivery firm actually phoned up tonight offering to deliver tomorrow morning, but sadly I had to decline as I could only manage to nab Thursday and Friday off work in preparation.

Mike, yep appear to deliver Nationwide at no additional cost. No idea re. the stand though I wouldn't have imagined they'd have the option of supplying anything other than the specific 32ZD26P stand/cabinet. No harm in asking, though. They've just gone online actually, but the website's looking a bit sparse at present...
