    Hi all,

Got my new Toshiba LCD around two weeks ago and I am very pleased with it. It's the first TV I have owned that does Compenent (YUV) video. I would like to connect my DVD player which has some compoent lead out puts on the back plus connecting my GameCube and the future XBOX 360 (with supplied cable) to the TV but to do so I need something called Mini D-Sub connector. I have done a few searches on ebay and I found this

Is this the kind of thing I am after? Am I right in thinking I can plug a normal component video into the ends of the these plugs as an input?

If anyone can help me with this I would be very greatful and if anyone knows of a UK based store who sells cables such as this.

I am in the same boat as you mate, i need to connect the 360 to my 27wl56 and i'm not sure of the best way to do it, as the screen does not have proper component inputs, you have to go through the vga (or dsub) connector.
I was thinking of getting the vga cable for the xbox360 (search on play.com £17.99) but i'm not sure about also getting a digital feed into my 5.1 sound system.

what we need is a female component to vga adaptor.

    still looking.....

Well reading the info sheet I got with my TV is does say I need something like the ebay posting but I am just waiting to see if its ok. If I think what I am thinking, ie with this cable I can just plug in normal componet cables into the end then my problem is sorted. They are female after-all are they not?.

With regards to Xbox 360 I think there is a seperate digital output on the console for that.

For the Xbox 360, the componet HD cables will have a optical out box attached.

A bit like the advanced scart cable for the current xbox.

Someone called JJ1 recommended the component to vga 15pin d-sub cable available from Best Stuff:

    http://www.beststuff.co.uk/specialist_rgb_leads.htm

Scroll down the page it's near the bottom. Cost £18.99 for 1.5 m length (they also do 3m). Their service was excellent, received the cable within 4 days, connected it to my new Tosh 27WL56 last night (a replacement for my original on that didn't have YUV enabled in the menu / firmware), and it works a treat. DVD via component is excellent on this screen.

But it still doesn't answer how we are going to connect the (male) component leads from the 360 to the vga on the screen?

looks as though the official 360 vga lead will have digital out on it.

Hi Guy's, the one from best stuff is the one you need. Got that connected up to my 56 and it gives a great picture!

you will not be able to use the supplied HD xbox 360 lead with this screen without some sort of adaptor for it to connect to the vga.

The frequently mentioned component to vga lead from beststuff is only good for dvd players not xbox 360.

    Right an update.

I ordered a Component cable from that link in the post above... with a mini D plug on the end. It works great. To connect a console like a US GameCube (the UK one does not support progressive scan) or the future Xbox 360 I simply used my Yamahaa amp/sound system as a connector!

So I can now get my US gamecube in progressives scan and the same with the Xbox 360 when it launches in a few months! The picture is out of this world. If anyone wants to contact me they can at Peterwhite171@hotmail.com but no :spam: please!
