I cant find a review for this set, can someone please point me in the right direction.
Is there no reviews for the Toshiba 32WL56 anyone own one and like to share there opinion
Its a very good set, I went through a few from Hughes and Beyondtelevision.com before I settled with this one. I had 3 Sharp GA5's first all with dead pixels....then a 27WL56 Tosh...that had a band of interferance at the top of the screen....then a LE26 Samsung....dead pixel and harsh colour.....and then a 32WL56....dead pixel.....and finally a 32WL56 with no faults! So I have personal experiance of a few sets now. Have to say the case quality and the remote on the Tosh's is not as good as Sharp or Samsung, but the picture quality is much better imo. What HiFi Sound and vision did a review on the 37WL56 I think and gave it 5 stars but I think its always best to make up your own mind. Hope this helps....and look out for the dreaded dead pixels!
Do you know what the policy is for dead pixels blackeyepurple is it through manufacturer or the store
I think Tosh allow 7 stuck and 4 unlit pixels on this set as within tolerance! You can send your set back and get a full refund within 7 days provided its as new. Samsung has a zero dead pixel policy but only in Korea. A lot of sets have them so check it over a few days on a black and white screen. I dont care what a manufacturer sees as acceptable.....a fault is a fault. Beyondtelevision were very good about replacing the faulty sets.
what plasma and lcd magazine reviewed it this month sept ed they say the blacks are bad on this screen and edges and close dotty areas are moving and has a green cast via hdmi socket , this is putting me off it a bit ?
Have not found any of the above present on my set or it would have been sent back. I think the same publishers produce both mags that have now given this set a good and bad review?!
so what score did the set get?! as i have just ordered one
Don't these sets have the same screen as the 32WL48 which got many awards, but with different types of connections? Or did toshiba try to make improvements with the 56 series which didn't prove successful as the reviews weren't good.
I was waiting for the 37WLT58 to come out but if doesn't score as highly as its previous model picture wise, I won't bother.
32wl56 got 5*4*4* for picture, sound and connectivity in the comet 'ultinmate guide to tvs' which was reviewed by what video and widescreen tv this is the only review i have found on the 32wl56.
wvtv " Aseriously accomplished performer that's built with the future in mind and and sells for what in the cicumstances is a fantastically low price"
Just got back from town and What Plasma and LCD (issue 15 current-next issue 18th Aug) had no mention of green push on this model....just a bit saying there were 3 new models from Toshiba 27/32/37 WL56 with smaller models to follow. What Home Cinema had a 2 page review of the 37WL56 and they gave it 4/5 77% and said there was some green push over HDMI....they also said it was one of the best screens they had ever seen over analogue HD. Septembers What Hi*Fi Sound and vision gave the 37WL56 five stars: FOR: Fine picture with both DVD and High-Def imagery; good with off-air TV,too; bigger screen than rivals at the same price. AGAINST: No dedicated component inputs; a little screen noise on occasion. VERDICT: A very solid LCD buy-and fine value, too. I only paid £830 with carriage for a good quality brand named LCD at 32".....its a good set at a good price. There are better and much worse models on the market.....but I have seen none better imo at this price point.
Would this LCD TV fill my criteria of not having a built-in Freeview tuner but having adjustable backlight control?
I think, in looking around my local Sevenoak's HiFi Sound and Vision, I saw this set, when looking for Sony's, and was struck how good it looked both picture and cabinet wise. I'm sure the price there was about £999 and was one of a few sets there for under £1k.
Try your local comet they have a nice selection of lcds and plasmas they have a brochure called 'The ultimate guide to tvs' with over 20 what video and widescreen tv ratings in it
Five stars in August's What HiFi?? Sound and Vision.
Anyone With the 32WL56 noticed a green tint to the image through HDMI?
There is a review of the 27WL56 (same family, smaller screen) in the September issue of What Video and Widescreen TV .
Can you give some highlights of that review?
Did they the mention the greent tint and what score did it get
can anyone find these magazine reviews on the web , or scan one and post it here
i have trwaled newsagents in my area the weekend to no avail and get so confused on the very similar sounding names ?
I have not tried this before, but let's give it a go. I have scanned the article and (tried to) attach it. By the way, it's a Word File.
The scan works fine, but do you happen to have page 2? It would be much appreciated!!!
Sorry about that. Hopefully here it is. Sorry, I had to chop it down a lot as otherwise the file was too big.
I think that the 32WL56 is better with blacks as it has a higher contrast ratio
compared to 27/37WL56 and has a higher resolution. No mentioning of the green push either which leads me to belive its a problem with the 37. So what score did the set get?!!!
The Ratings for the 27WL56 were as follows:
What's Good - Colours; Details, Low Price.
What's Bad - Blacks; No component (phono) inputs; looks.
Ease of use ****
Overall Verdict - A decent set, but the spec has been comprimised in places and it shows.
Hope this is a help.
