Hi, first post here.

I am thinking of getting the TOSHIBA 32AV505D.

The specs are here. I'll be using it with a PS3 via HDMI.

I don't know much about this stuff so help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi F1

FYI
One of my best friend who have bought this Tosh's AV500 series(505
are same series as well, might be some more functions etc.,but same
serie and also this serie has also sale in US)

In briefly, looks fine and w'v tested HD sources+SD sources+PC etc.,

1-PC perception/supported 1280X720pixel via HDMI
-but need to be alingmnet thru GCard than 1;1 pixel mapping is OK:smashin:
-Desktop applications are all fine!
2-This TV especially fine work with HD sources too!!!

3-No any buzzing! but a little bit deep-sound noise(but its not too noisy
while you listen the actual audio)

4-Ideal for use such as PS3 via HDMI as well but don't forget that this panel
HDReady instead of FULLHD!!!
As 1080p applications that you have to gor for FULLHD panels in order to get more performance!

Finally this unit very budged plus price/performance is OK!

Bye+

Thanks for that, but I heard that 1080p and 720p on a smaller screen size does not make much difference.

I just need to find a shop that has it in stock now. :D

This year and beyond all manufacturers has to produce 1080p TVs
from 32"!!!
At present;Sharp,Sony,Tosh,Pany,Samy has 32" 1080p TVs!!!

Such as when you use your TV with PC application as you will get more
chance and more picture definition even panel 32"!think about this???

Also its fine work with all HD sources such as BD/HDDVD/Xbox/PS3 etc.,
So 32" now time to go for:hiya:

I don't think I will need 1080p really, I won't even sit that far from the TV to notice it. Do you know where I can find reviews for this TV?

Brought this TV from bennetts friday for £399 (still on offer), Its the 504DB but it's almost the same.

I must say that this a fantastic set, SD is good and my Xbox360 was easy to set up and play, i have been playing GTA4/PGR4 and so far have not seen any blur (thank goodness).

There are some settings here LINK, they make A LOT of difference and make the picture excellent, the picture might be a little dark but just turn the brightness up a little to taste etc, many of my friends are commenting on how it's better than their Sammy (but i don't think they have touched any of the picture settings).

I can't comment on the freeview side of things as i use a BT vision box.

Otherwise this set is acting flawlessly and im 110% happy with my purchase.

Thanks, things are looking good for this TV. Do you think the Toshiba Outlet store could have these? Otherwise I might just go to Currys or somewhere and have a look.

Oh and any ideas what version HDMI this TV has? And can it be wall mounted?

Hi

Yes it can be wall mounted but off hand i don't know the size of the frame etc.

HDMI im not sure, i can't find anything in the handbook or online.

No idea on the Toshiba store, theres a very limited amount of shops near me, if they do sell the 505DB it will be alot more than Dixons ;)

Hi,
As for the HDMI version the handbook quotes;

Some early HDMI equipment may not work properly with your latest HDMI TV,due to the adoption of a new standard. HTH

Just found out tonight, if you put the TV into DTV mode (by the button under the 9) and just plug the aerial in to search for some channels once you have done that press the menu button like normal, this will now bring up the feature menu including firmware update option.

Does anyone know the cheapest place that will have this TV? Thanks. :)

EDIT: Looked for the 504 and found this, is that a good price for it and how do the specs compare to the 505?

Check that you have the PS3 set to output the correct resolution for your tv.

should of asked how have you got the PS3 connected to the tv, HDMI?

Curly

Hello All,
Sorry for the bump, I'm helping my neighbur, she has this TV and for some reason Freeview doesn't work anymore? She used to be connected to Sky, but now canceled.

However 3 other TVs in the house work fine we checked the antena cable with another TV and that one does get freeview without any problems...

What am I missing? Is there a hidden advanced setting? Firmware update?

Thanks!

Yes of course ;-)

Tried automatic tuning a few times, doesn't find anything.
It's a 3 years old 'freebies TV' surly it should still be working?

Thanks!
