I've finally got one but having trouble with media

Datawrite (Green) 2x -RW.... No good
Datasafe (Orange) 2x -RW.... No good
Bulkpaq (Orange) 2x -RW.... No good

All of these worked perfectly on the JVC but now they stop formating at 37% and then it says "This disc cannot be formatted"

Even tried completely blanking disc fully, on PC which takes 40mins.

Of course Bulkpaq Blue x1 -RW are useless...

What have people got to work???

    Particulary -RW's???

    Hi

I would try TDK DVD-RW 1-2 speed discs, this would rule out an actual problem with the recorder, if these don't work you have a bad machine, if they do, it is likely the recorder doesn't like cheap RW media.

TDK Scratchproof DVD-RW discs can be got from www.blankdiscshop.co.uk and are quite good value and will last you the recorders lifetime.

    Regards

    Philip

I got into a bit of a panic since none of my 50+ -RW's will work on the Tosh since they are all either Bulkpaq or Datasafe with the Ritek dye which is strange.

I thought I had another lemon since my EX JVC RAM recorder wouldnt record on RAM! - Allthough liked the Ritek dye -RW with no problems.

The blankdisc shop had a problem with the web server so I went around a market and got a Traxdata -RW for 1.25 which worked fine.

... Traxdata (for video) -RW ... OK

I have also tried the cheap Datasafe caddie Ram that failed before and it seemed OK in the Tosh anyone else had find these OK???

    More reading tests...

The Toshiba will read most disc if finalised!!! even if they are recorded in -VR mode (and finalised)

Sometimes it takes 2-3 mins for the disc to be read (clunking noise) is this normal???

Bulkpaq -R Green x2 / orange x4 OK but take time to read.

Datawrite -R classic red x4 take 5+ minutes to read

Ritek (A) -R orange x4 are the quickest to start.

No good on Verbatem +RW (didn't expect it anyway)

I was amazed to find a Bulkpaq -RW blue wrtten in -VR mode (finalised) that read really quickly. In fact I discovered in will read my bulkpaq/ritek -RW's if they are finalised.

Unfortunatly not many of them are :thumbsdow , does anyone know how to finalised -VR on a PC???

I've used ritek G05 / G04 printables with no problems on my Tosh, could it be something to do with the firmware ???

I have used abut 5+ of Darawirte x4 -R (red) disc so far on my XS32 using 'Create DVD' from Edit manu. Strangely all these discs are played well on my two DVD players (Ronin and Humax) but non of then can be played on the XS32. When I put the disc back to XS32 I always got the same error message saying the disc is damaged or wrong format. Any one has the same experience?

I returned two Toshiba XS32s recorders about three weeks ago because almost all my media caused the "check disc, it may be damaged or dirty" message. I think there's some Toshibas with bad drives out there.
