Toshiba 27WLT56 - ideal for 360? (native 1280 by 720)

Hi all
In my hunt for a native 1280by720 panel I stumbled across the Toshiba 27WLT56 - this a native 1280by720 screen with integrated freeview.
This screen should not be confused with the Toshib 27WL56P which is very different. Main differences between WLT56 and WL56P are:

  • WLT has 1280by720 res
  • WL has 1366by768 res
  • WLT has no image processing
  • WL has Toshiba Active Vision
  • WLT has DVI and VGA
  • WL has HDMI and VGA

Anyway, I am very close to buying this screen (available for around £470 to £550) and just wondered if people had any direct feedback on the TV with the 360...

In Theory the PQ for 360 should be top dollar as the screen does not scale the 720p output and FULLY supports 720p over component (needs component to VGA converter) or 1280by720 resolution if connected with MS VGA cable...

So any opinions?

I had one of these and it lasted about 10 minutes before I sent it back. Had it before I got the 360, but the general performance was awful. Pasty picture, motion blur... crappy crappy crappy.
It might have changed with firmware upgrades, and at least if you buy it on line then at least you can try it and send it back under DSR.
But I would check it carefully first. Mine was appalling

Also when you select 1280x720 the screen goes green. I used to have the 27wl56 and i thought it was pretty good. If you select 1360x768 it gave a cracking picture.

There was a bit of motion blur though.

Make sure you have looked at all your options before buying. Good luck:smashin:

Cheers for the feedback - I would guess the bad performance was a result of it having no picture enhancement software (i.e. no ActiveVision) this would tend to make SD material pretty difficult to watch... however fed a HD signal I would hope it would give excellent results... but i could be wrong

Hi Nick... are you sure you are talking about the 27WLT56? I ask because the WLT is 1280by720 native and the manual states that it can display a 1280by720 signal at 60Hz.
The 27WL56P on the other hand does not support 1280by720, instead it needs to be fed 1360by768... this screen does indeed give a gree screen when fed 1280by720
Thanks

EDIT: just realised you were talking about the 26WL56P and not the 26WLT56
