    Hello all.

I recently decided on buying the Toshiba 20wlt56, after the many positive comments on this website.

I was waiting to see if the price would continue to drop as it had been (it had come down from about £350 to £330 in the last month or so), with the cheapest retailer digital direct.

However, they now seem to have stopped stocking it, but are instead selling the Toshiba 20w330d. This seems to be the "upgraded" version, as it now includes an HDMI port, and HD ready capabilities.

Have Toshiba replaced the 20wlt56, and are retailers starting to phase this out in favour of the newer 20W330D?
Should I look to buy the 20wlt56 now, before all the retailers stop stocking it?

    Thanks in advance.

The answer to your question is yes. A new model is coming out which normally means selling the old one of at a discount. I've seen the same tv myself but the lack of HD put me off. Its now 350 at Currys.

    Hi Nova,

Have you compared the two? I would prefer the narrower design of the Tosh as it would fit tighter in the corner of the room. I have seen the earlier 20WLT56 and it was better than the equiv Samsung / JVC etc. but I haven't seen the Philips.

    Thanks.

I do! I would want to wall mount a TV this size and i do not want a box and another Scart lead hanging off it!

Its about time that with the digital switchover for many now less than 2 years away that ALL TV's sold today should have integrated DVB-T tuners by law!

I have this tv in my bedroom (20WLT56). It's not a bad tv and will support HD thru' component (720p only) - got me out of a bind my main HDTV packed up.

I can say that it's a bit expensive though and there are better deals out there for HD ready tv's rather than HD compatible like this one.

One other thing - with the stand, its a little top heavy and tends to lean forward slightly, so might be best to wall mount it.

Which set are you talking about? The Toshiba 20W330D? I went into John lewis this week and they are getting them in for Firday so I will have a look this weekend and see what they are like.
