I am looking at getting one or other of these two, I have mostly region 2 at the moment, but will probably get region 1 stuff later.

Richer sounds advertises both players Region free, is this true region free, RCE etc.

    Which is the better player?

I will be running this through a Bose Lifestyle 12 system, so digital output is not a big issue at the moment.

I just want to be able to watch em and hear em.

    Cheers

The Toshiba SD100e is no longer in production. It is being replaced by the SD110e which is about the same price and smaller. For an extra tenner you can get the SD210e which is out now and supports CD/CD-R/CD-RW etc. It plays MP3 and DVD audio.
I have one on order from Techtronics for 210 pounds which is modded for multi-region and is RCE compatible. Macrovision can also be disabled.

    Regards

If you are still interested in either of the players you mention then it seems to be the general consensus that the Tosh has slightly better picture quality and the Pioneer is slightly better in the sound dept - but both players have received many accolades.

Definately go for the SD210E as it offers many more facilities than the SD100, but are you sure that the SD210E can play DVD-A? I have one on order and have looked at the Toshiba website, but I can't see any mention of it being DVD-A compatible.

I understand that the SD500E is the DVD audio model.
