What do people do with their X32's when not in use? Do they leave it on or off? What about the HD power down option?

Also, does it still timer record when off?

I switch it off but while it's on, leave the HD active, since a few recordings I made missed the first 20-30 seconds as it waited for the disk to spin up.

PS: It wakes up for timer recordings several minutes before they're due so switching it off doesn't stop it recording.

I leave mine on, largely as I use it as an RGB -> component converter for the rest of my set-up so it needs to be on to watch TV. It also minimises the number of things which need to be turned on to start watching. When it reached 4 (TV, amp, decoder, XS32) my girlfriend declaired it was getting silly.

As it's on all the time you won't be surprised to know I use HD power down. Never noticed any big problems with it.

Got my replacement this morning :)

I leave mine on all day and switch off at night. I use the component signal to view sky. It appears to be slightly crisper than the RGB signal.
