My 3+ year old JVC set (CRT) has just been diagnosed as "uneconomical to repair" and the warranty company have suggested a Toshiba 32C3030DB as replacement for a contribution of £20.95! Result!

However, the space where the TV goes is quite defined (height is the critical factor) and I don't want to remodel the whole area if it can be avoided. 2 questions if I may:

If I don't use the desktop stand I have the clearance needed. Difficult to explain, but if I made a kinda 'channel' instead for it to sit in, would that provide enough support? Does anybody see a problem with that?

Secondly, based on the fact that my DVD player will be a Samsung DVD recorder with hard disk/HDMI connection and my TV service is a NTL Samsung STB with RGB would the panel (!) go for:

    Toshiba 32C3030DB
    Philips 32PF7531D/10
    Philips 32PF7611D/10
    Samsung LE32R74BDX
    Samsung LE32R87BDX/XEU

or would you recommend something else?

    Many thanks for your advice

After seeing the 37" of the Toshiba 32C3030DB in action around a friends house I can only but recommend it. All things SD seem to be very good.

If it makes any difference, the DVD recorder with disk/HDMI will now be a Panasonic

    Thanks

Having owned an R7 range and an R8 at the moment I recommend the Samsung R87 you have listed and the Toshiba. Try to get somewhere that has these 2 near each other, specifically smaller shops that take pride in displaying their products. Some shops have a viewing lounge.
