I was given the subject player as a present, with the only stipulation I gave to the person buying it wa that I needed optical output, so that I could continue to use my Yamaha VS-10 surround system that I bought a while back. I used to just use my PS2 with it which worked fine, as I needed the VS-10 built in 5.1 decoder.

Trouble is I'm having problems getting the digital output to work. Are there any tricks or setting that I'm missing? I don't see any light light coming out of the optical socket. So is just bust, and I need to change it or is there something I can look at before taking it back.

Also the Tosh has a decoder built in, so what happens when the digital signal is sent to the Yamaha, also with a decoder?
