    Hi,

Does anyone know if the hard drive in the new toshes wll be able to be upgraded? After a while it might me nice to stick in a 160gb or larger drive.

Has anyone tried it on other hdd/dvd recorders?

    Many thanks,

    Matthew

Almost certainly not I should imagine. There have been concerted efforts to upgrade the HDD on the Panasonic HDD/DVDR combos - so far all have failed. The bottom line is that these companies all see their future profits from selling you a new HDD/DVDR combo with larger and larger HDD - and thus have made it impossible to upgrade the HDD.

In one of the Toshiba threads somebody said there is a 160GB version due before the end of the year.

Didn't realise the RX33 was getting a UK release - do you know if it's going to have the Ethernet connection found on the Japanese models?

The Jap model with ethernet is the RDXS41. There are plans that they will release RDXS43 and 53 in states towards end of year. But descriptions of these dont include ethernet. Looking at the toshiba website, they talk of iEPG setting (internet programming) where as descriptions of us model talk pf TV guide (the EPG found on the Philips). Maybe Tosh see the ethernet as unnecessary if the west has its own EPG system?
