    Hi All,

I just know I've read about this B4

I've had the Tosh for a couple of months and have noticed that there is a reddish tinge down both sides, more noticable on the right. It seems to be getting worse.

Just watched Final Fantasy on DVD and the blues turn a greyish red towards the extremes of the screen.

Any body know the fix before I ring Hi Spek?
Convergence is spot on, contrast 45, brightness 35.

    Cheers
    Lee

Contrast and brightness seem fine to me so nothing to do with that. The only thing I would say is that the red gun tends to be more out of focus on the right and therefor harder to convergence on the right hand side of my screen. The red definately dominates the right side somewhat. The blue tends to dominate the left. Although I notice you say the red tinge is on either side of the screen... Are you in any position to post some screenshots so I can see how bad this is ?

    Thanks.

Had my 46WH08b around 3 months and it's exactly the same.
The blue image is a little weak at both sides of the screen but especially on the RHS.
Red is too strong on the Right.

I'm told more expensive projectors have electronic shading correction adjustments on each gun to even out the white-balance across the whole screen.

This appears to be an optical shortcoming that we're stuck with on the Tosh RPTVs. I can just about live with mine as the picture is stunning in other respects.

I agree with John, mine is the same set as his and the same effect.

It is possible to turn down the red gun that will bring down the effect (Depends how bad it is) but please be aware that doing this can effect the whole picture as you will be not only removing red from the side, but across the screen therefore changing the black level.

You should get a "Good" engineer to take a look at it.

    Regards

Thanks for the replies so far guys.

On a bright picture its hardly noticable but pause a black screen on DVD, turn down the room lights and I can see whats best described as an area of orange light down the right side, ie not true black.

My Tosh RPTV definately has some slight red push. For example when a scene is totally black there is a very small amount of redness to the black level, its barely noticable though so its generally fine. I'm probably gonna get my set ISF Calibrated by Gordon at convergent-av soon so hopefully he can clear this up seeing as its probably only the greyscale that needs clearing up. :D

    Lee,
If you need it calibrated better then I suggest you follow HBK757 advice.

I am delighted with my Tosh RP and yes as you say I can see the orange tinge with the lights down etc, but the overall picture is so good I could not warrant the cost of having it calibrated but I am sure that it would look even better if gordon did his stuff on it!!

    HBK757,

Could you post or e-mail me the contact details for Gordon.

How much would I be looking to pay?

    Cheers
    Lee
