Hi All,

Im looking to get a RPTV and was interested in the Tosh 42WT29B mainly over the others for its 100 MHz display. It looks like I will be paying £1419 from Empire Direct for it but as this is a lot of money I wanted to have a sanity check with you lot and make sure that this is the best one for the price to go for. I noticed that Thompson produce 100MHz RPTV also for about £200 cheaper are they any good?

I noticed this model has been around for a good few months is it about to be replaced?

If you have a different set to consider im open to opinions though any bigger than 44" and our front room will look funny!

Cheers,

Westy :)

Westy,

you can buy a stand from Tosh for this tv but in my opinion it makes the tv too high. Your better buying a small cabinet (space allowing) to stand next to the tv to put your gear in. BTW I have the 42wh18b and Im very happy with it.

I guess reassurance that spending 1420 on a this tv is giving me the best for the money!

Shaun, the model numbers even on the toshiba site seem strange, would you mind clarifying what the difference is between the 42WT29B and the 42WH18B is? Is this the difference between getting the stand with it?

Thanks,

Westy

I almost sure the only difference between these two models is that the 42wh18b has no digital tuner for recieving ITV2 etc etc. The stand will be extra in most if not all tosh rp models. I got my 42wh in Feb and it was replaced very soon after that by the tosh rp that had the didital tuner. that was the only difference and I think that is the model you are looking at. Probably a good idea to give Toshiba a ring to verify this. 0115 9766958

I looked at the tosh and sony b4 i purchased, the tosh edged the sony on picture quality imho which is what was most important to me

I was always a sony man but when I looked at the RPTVs I too thought that Tosh had a better picture. Also, going by some other threads, sony seem to have a poor after sales service. IMHO

nezzer: you're talking about sony kp-44ps2! not kp-44px2 witch is the new model and isn't yet avaiable for shipping (this month though). this one is cheaper and has 100hz (ps2 had 50hz), 2 rgb scarts and other features! (heard it will have memory stick reading)

I've had the Toshiba 42PW23P for 4 months now and am very happy with it. It replaced a 100Hz Hitachi which i returned after only 3 weeks and in my opinion the 50Hz Toshiba is much better.
