Tosh 42WH36 Problems

I have had my RP for over month and there is one annoying problem .The right hand side of the screen. about 1 ft wide from the edge appears to be more redder than the rest of the screen. You can easily see it when a picture pans and the change of colour is quite noticeable. I have done the service level convergence but can not still get rid of it. Does any one have any ideas about what could be the problem, has any one experienced the saem proble?

Any help appreciated!!

Cheers

Sorry to hear about the problem...

Non-uniformity of colour is usually down to the mechanics of the set, i.e. the tubes/lens/mirror. Unfortunately, as you've found out, its not a convergence issue..

There could be a number of reasons for this.. so I won't guess, other then saying, usually when you think its too much red, its normally the fact that blue or green are reduced, so it appears red..

In any case, I would phone Toshiba (Number should be in the handbook), and get them to sort it out.. it could something really bad like a defect mirror, or just some debris/dirt from assembly, and transportation..

Good luck..

Is there any way for the toshiba engineers to know that I have been in the service menu i.e. to correct the convergence?
Just need some reassurance :))

Not really,

They could get all anal, and have added time logging information etc, to tell when and what was last changed, but they are very practical about these things....

Its best not to tell engineers that you have been in the service menu, since they invariably are a right bunch of jobs-worth, self professed know-it-alls with attitude..

Be confident in the fact that correcting the covnergence has not in anyway caused the problem you have, and that at the end of the day is what matters...

I've found Toshiba customer service to be second to none, last time I had a problem with an RPTV, they sent the local guy out, he knew nothing about RPTV's, and was just being slow and hesitant in getting it sorted, so I phoned customer service back, and explained that the engineer was useless, and they sent an engineer up from Saltash, Cornwall to Bristol to fix it.. (He was very good, and knew the sets inside out..)

Hope it gets fixed soon...

i have done the convergence on my toshiba 42wh36 and it all seems fine. I am temporarily using s-video to connect the dvd to the tv while my components arrive soon and it seems grainy to me.

Is there anything i can do?
