Slightly off topic guys, but I thought i should share my experience with the comet engineers.
I have a Samsung lcd rptv i bought from comet which developed an obvious problem ( in my opinion ) with the display. A strange vertical smearing.
Anyway, the first guy came round and told me he had never seen my tv before! Great start.
I had to show him dozens of examples before he accepted something was wrong. He gets on the phone to some other bod, and leaves my house saying they'll get back to me. The second guy was even worse. He firstly insisted the TV was supposed to look that way, and then started accusing me of nitpicking, with statements like 'you may see the problem, but another person wouldnt'. How the **** does that help me at all. Because some engineer who is completely unfamiliar with my set cant see a problem then thats the end of it!?
I told him to **** off, and i was gonna get a samsung engineer round to check. He told me I cant and samsung would insist we go through comet.
ANYWAY, I called samsung and without delay they booked one of thier own guys from Baron McCann who has worked with my set before to come round. The next day somebody from Baron called me with a date and to let me know they would replace my set if they needed to take it away for fixing. Lovely!
So, dont assume you have to go through Comet to get you repairs done. Im still under the samsung warrenty, and they were sharp on the case.
