I'm shortly going to buy the Tosh 36ZP48 and have been looking through the manual where it states "If you use a decoder (STB) it is essential that the aerial cable is connected through the decoder to the TV". Why is this? If I'm using the Sky+ scart to connect to the TV why not connect the RF cable direct to the TV, why does it need to go through the Sky+ box?

It's a little ambiguous. What they must mean is that if you are using a digital terrestrial TV decoder (a la Freeview), the antenna must loop through from decoder to TV (so that the TV can still tune in analogue UHF TV signals).

You are right in that if your decoder is a satellite one and connected to the TV via SCART, this is not necessary.

I agree. I think they are referring to a Freeview STB.
