I've got a Toshiba 36ZP18P linked up to a SD-210 using component video cables and coaxial for audio. What are the optimum correct settings for both to get best sound?

Should the DVD player be set to PCM, bitstream or what?

I tried to watch a DVD and selected 5.1 DTS surround from the menu but got no sound, should I? Had to select PCM stereo to hear anything.

    Cheers,

    Andy.

Just need to ensure I'm making the most out of them!

Set the DVD player to Bitstream. and Dolby Digital 5.1
PCM (Pulse Code Modulation) is for standard audio CDs and VCDs

Your TV doesn't support DTS that's why you don't get any sound. To enjoy DTS you'd have to buy an external AV amp/receiver that supports it.
