I was wondering what everyone thinks of the free surround speakers.

I have only just received my speakers (they forgot to give me them with the tv).

First thoughts: theyre ok, but the sound clearly doesn't sound anywhere nearly as good as my neighbours separates setup so I have ordered myself some separates (yamaha amp and mission m series speakers creating an additional cost (damn), but i think it will be worth it!!.

Have most people now took this route, of a separate sound system?.

My Tosh speakers are still in the box. I didn't even bother checking them against my amp/speaker set-up.

Anyone wanting to buy boxed Toshiba 32/36 ZP18P speakers let me know as i have some <img src="wink.gif" border="0">

And yes, it is worth having the seperates

What makes you say the speakers are free? You have paid for them in the price. Anyway, I have no room for a seperate audio system and cant see much point in buying replacememt speakers as the sound seems quite acceptable, particularily as I can never turn it up that high due to neighbours and my kids in bed.

Ken let your kids have a late night and invite your neighbours round, then pump up the volume.

I'm sure separates will be better. But as some say, when separates are not always convenient/affordable the provided speakers will do a good job. I have separates and am thinking the Tosh speakers could replace my old speakers on my computer. I wonder if they will be compatible.

Well as much as i thought the toshiba 36zp18 separate speakers were good they in fact are not.
I unplugged the separate toshiba speakers and plugged a separate amp and speakers.
    The difference is unexplainable really.

As i had never had surround speakers or a widescreen tv i thought the toshiba separate speakers were great and i was really impressed as i was comparing it against my old normal nicam tv.

I was unsure if new speakers would make any difference but after i was told it would I decided to scrape the money together and to take the plunge.

Having these new speakers is totally different. The setup now isn't even comparable to the toshiba separate speakers i had, i am really glad I decided to buy the new speakers it was definately worth the extra money.
The sound now is just everywhere its all around the room you can't tell where its coming from, its just there in the room!!
Its amazing, How excited am I !!!

Out of interest, has anyone had any experience of the home cinema speaker kits produced by Sony, Panasonic, etc?

How do they compare against the standard Tosh speakers and a separate amp+speakers?
