O.K Engineer just popped round to sort out the fix for the brightness problem.

    The Paramaters to change are as follows:
BS2
2BS2
3BS2
WBS2
NBS2

    The values on all these paramaters need to change to 07H

    Example: My Old values were:
BS2 = 09H
2BS2= 00H
3BS2= C4H
WBS2= 09H
NBS2= 09H

    I hope this helps anyone who is suffering the same problem

    Thanks, Simon.

    I'll try applying the new values tonight.

    Did you find that they improved your picture?

    I'm glad to hear that the fix sorted out your picture.

    I eventually managed to apply the fix (it took some time to work out how to actually do anything in the Designer Menu). The picture does seem to look a little better, but it hasn't really improved the problem that I was trying to cure.

    The problem I've got is that bright areas can sometimes be too bright, eg a white shirt on a sunny day, or a white wall with the sun reflecting off of it. It's not a problem most of the time, I just notice it sometimes, and its always on whites. I wonder whether it's anything to do with the set being new, and the screen needing to 'burn in' a bit.

    Nigel.

    My old set had the symptons you describe, although mayby a little worse such as sunlit grass being nearly white. New set came today and is much better although still slightly bright on whites. No sign of this bightness fluctuation thjough, are new sets set with the above changed parameters now?
However if you think it is faulty get the engineer to condemm it and get a new one.

    balders, have you tried turning the dynamic contrast off?

    If you amend picture setting 1 or 2, you get DC on. If you amend picture setting 3, DC is off.

    It may help

    Press mute and release
Press mute and keep it pressed down.
Press menu (on front of tv)

    That enters the "S" service menu.

    To enter the "D" designer menu, you go into the service menu and then press and hold down CALL on the remote and then press menu on the front of the tv

    Other information on the Toshiba service/designer menus can be found here

    Hi all,
    Just wondering if I go into the S menu to fix brightness, how do you move about the menu to change different settings? Also how do you exit S menu?

    Many thanks.

    Channel up/down to change the setting. Volume up/down to change the value.

    Turn the tv off and then back on again to get out of the menu

    Has anyone managed to get the staining/feint vertical bars corrected by an engineer?
