I'm looking at buying a new Nicam-only set. I don't want all the bundled surround nonsense, my last TV had that and I'm going to do it properly with an amp etc. Nearly bought a Philips 9576 earlier this year, but all the other Philips stuff I've had has been disappointing. Toshiba have never let me down.

Looking at the above two sets, they both get very good reviews. The Tosh is quite bulky but has component video sockets and the picture does look good even in John lewis, The Panny sleek and less dominating, but I haven't seen a sharp picture on it yet.

I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who has got either of these.

Also, do they have dual picture facility? I quite like the idea of letting the wife watch her soaps but keep an eye on the footie as well. I think they both allow you to do this, but I have heard that this facility damages the tube.

I know they are both quite new, but any thoughts so far would be appreciated
