I've been attempting to create a compact system for my kitchen diner. I've purchased a topping tp30 amp and monitor audio bx1. The sound through a CD player is very impressive for the £160 its cost me. However I bought this with the plan of using a smartphone and built in DAC. The problem is it really doesn't sound very good. I've been using tunein app at 320 bitrate. I'm no audiophile but I can instantly notice the deteration between the 2. To you think it maybe some issue with the DAC?

I'd suspect the audio as opposed to the DAC? 320kbps is far from lossless.

Thank you for your reply. Its hard to work out if what I'm hearing is down to compression or something else. I was under the impression 320kbps was pretty good and would not be instantly so noticeable. Partially when using a DAC. I'm going to try using a jack to rca and see what that sounds like. If it sounds better I can narrow down the problem to the digital input.
