Is there any way to get this unit to output a progressive signal or is that just wishful thinking?
If not, can anyone recommend a PVR that does?

Cheers guys.

Why would you want to? Fair enough if the source is progressive you'd get better PQ sticking that way but freeview is interlaced. Some unit has to de-interlace and in general the display probably does a better job of that.

BTW the toppy does output YUV as well as RGB.

Well answered. The problem is people don't understand that progressive out only makes a difference with progressive sources, at this point in time only commercial film DVDs give this for most people.

The same people go out and buy upscaling standard definition equipment thinking it gives them something better when all the time their HD Ready TV is already upscaling. The manufacturer's strangely enough probably don't mind one little bit:lesson:

Your TV is already de-interlacing and is doing a much better job than shifting it to the device as your TV will do it better while it upscales the picture. Progressive out is pointless on a PVR that only receives interlaced pictures.

Fair enough guys. Theres obviously alot of difference in picture quality between my progressive equipment and the interlaced picture of the PVR. The Sony doesnt do that good a job of it to be honest. Ah well...
