Can anyone give their top 5 scenes that test different technical aspects of their projector (and perhaps the top 5 for their sound system too)?

    TTFN!

    Hi,

For assessing a projectors ability to produce a detailed picture in a dark scene I would suggest running the underwater submarine sequence from The Phantom Menace. This scene is a real challenge for any system as there is quite a lot of detail on the monsters and the craggy rock faces. This would provide a good test of a projectors resolving ability.

For evaluating rainbows on a DLP check out the Matrix, lots of bright lights against dark backdrops in various scenes.

Not sure what the best films are for checking sound but for sheer impact I would recommend the opening race sequence of 2Fast2Furious and the podrace from the Phantom Menace. Both have great surround effects and would be a good test for a 5.1 system.

Also check out the sound effects in Spiderman, the Green Goblins voice on the rooftop scene in particular 'Wake up spiderman....'. Cool.

    Cheers

Hero is a film that puts a pj thru its paces, esp the fight scene at the begining.

I have a Panny AE700 and added a B+W KR6 filter to it. Just finished watching a masterpiece of a movie called Driven (sarcastic tone). The picture quality on the DVD is amazing (as is the sound) and really shows what a projector is capable of. Contrast looked fantastic. Reds especially looked good as did the night time scenes.

How much, where from etc etc.

Did you have to set-up again from scratch or was the improvemnt a quick and immediate one ?
