OK, who are they? You're not allowed to say anything obvious like Clapton as that would be wrong. Jimmy Paige would be OK though.

    Here's mine.

    1. Malcolm Young (AC/DC)
    2. Randy Rhoads (Quiet Riot and Ozzy)
    3. Mick Ronson (Bowie)

    Shoot.

PS: Oh yeah, and you can't say Hank Marvin either.

    Ah, the magical axe...

Numero uno by a big margin, Mr Steve Vai (the man is a genius)
Runner up is probably Eddi Van Halen
with the perennial school boy of rock coming a close third.

    Cheers

Hmmm, best guitarist is difficult, favourite isnt too bad.

Are we talking electric or acoustic , classical or rock ?

On electric and rock its Hendrix, most innovative and natural player. That doesnt mean he is the most technically proficient, that honour probably goes to Vai,Santriani or Van Halen, but they just dont seem to put much emotion into their playing. Gilmours gotta be in there somewhere along with jimmy page and Tom Verlaine. But dont forget the great rythmn players like Pete Townsend, Keith Richards and James Hetfield. Thats before I get started on people like Al Dimeola, John Mclaughlin and Paco Delucia (get a listen to Friday night in San Francisco if you want to hear these guys strut their stuff:eek:).

Theres just too many, but Hendrix just stands a head and shoulders above most for pure intuative playing, feel and technique, he is my favourite so ergo, hes the best, everyone else is second.

I saw Van Halen support AC/DC

Van Halen blew them off stage

This was the Dave Lee Roth era!!!!!!

I have seen Gary Moore live as well

Ozzy is probably the most entertaining!!

    (note all in 1980s)

Not necessarily the best, but I haven't heard some of the others posted here.

Antonio Forcione - amazing acoustic player.
Don Felder - of the Eagles.
John Squire - particularly his solo stuff.
