hi like to thank the forum for all the helpful info and advice i have received and read over the last week or two.
i originally ordered a tiny screen and table last month(with some crap free extras dvd recorder and internet box) on a spur of the moment as i always wanted a plasma screen then found avforums and realised what a big mistake, cancelled this order recently much to my relief.
anyway after reading through loads of pages and asking a few questions i have finally plumped for a panasonic th42pwd7bs, component board & js rgb-vga converter for my sky+ all from av sales(cheers alastair!) as i have heard good reports. could have got most of this slightly cheaper by buying bits here and there but would rather get it all from one place and have a decent aftersales service if required. now need to find a cheap dvd player as one i have goes with my old crt and isnt that good anyway and some sort of furniture unit or stand to sit the plasma on (no real useable wall space in living room to hang it on.
already over budget but hey i'm sure it will be well worth it.
when i took into account what i was actually getting from tiny and how much it was costing, the PW7 and what i need for it isn't as expensive as i first thought.
put delivery off until 18th april as i am off work this day and will be able to devote full day to setting living room up and screen when it arrives without any hassles from the missus or the wee one!!.
    cheers again to all

You won't regret your decision, I'm sure. I have PWD6 and I'm well pleased. Yours is even a bit better.
