Seeing as it's only £9 i Asda at the moment, is it a game worth getting or would it be a waste of money? The reviews seem pretty positive, but it is a reasonably old game and things move on.

Any comments appreciated!

For £9 you cant really moan either way but I thought it was a great little game, not overly long but entertaining while it lasted.

Easy 1000 points as well.

May or may not be an influence but I recently noticed the preorder of the NTSC/J(very likely region-free) Tomb Raider: Anniversary on the playasia site at $48.00 delivered(around £24). Has a release date down for October.

Something to think about before buying Legend perhaps. Mind you at £9.00 you can hardly go wrong, got fairly decent reviews from what I can remember.

"Eidos Interactive Ltd., part of SCi Entertainment Group, one of the world's leading publishers and developers of entertainment software, is pleased to announce that the latest Lara Croft adventure, Tomb Raider: Anniversary, will be released on the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, initially in the form of downloadable episodic content which will be available for purchase to owners of Tomb Raider Legend on Xbox 360.

This is the first time ever that the serialization of a full retail game will be available for purchase through Xbox Live® Marketplace. The game will be available in four episodes; Episodes 1 & 2 will be available in September, with the next two episodes arriving shortly afterwards. A full retail version is planned to be released for Xbox 360 later in the year.

"We have created this version of Anniversary specifically for digital distribution as episodic content. This is part of our strategy to grow our presence in online and digital distribution as we believe there are huge growth opportunities arising from this delivery format and we intend to capitalize on the increasing demand for digitally downloaded content," said Jane Cavanagh, Chief Executive, Eidos. "Lara has always been at the forefront of technology and this world first initiative with Microsoft really highlights that fact. Ultimately we also intend to make the title available at retail so that it reaches the maximum possible audience."

"We're continuing to break new ground in getting incredible gaming experiences in the hands of consumers," said George Peckham, General Manager of 3rd Party Publishing, Xbox, Microsoft. "We're excited to be able to deliver one of the most well-recognized franchises in video game history with Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary to our more than six million Xbox Live members worldwide in the form of episodic content."

The market for digital download of core PC and console games is expected to exceed $289 million by 2010, with Games on Demand services topping $104 million (ScreenDigest). Microsoft's Xbox Live online gaming network can already boast over 2.3 billion hours of online gaming (this is equal to 95 million days or over 260,000 years) since its launch in 2004. Xbox 360 owners have activated more than 5 billion points (over $60 million) on marketplace with over 135 million downloads since the launch of Xbox 360 in 2005.

Inspired by the first Tomb Raider videogame, originally released in 1996, LARA CROFT TOMB RAIDER: ANNIVERSARY is a totally new adventure for Lara, faithfully preserving the elements which made the original Tomb Raider such a classic (selling over 7 million copies worldwide). The Tomb Raider series is still one of the best selling videogame franchises of all time with over 32 million copies sold and two major feature films released, starring Angelina Jolie.

Tomb Raider: Anniversary has also launched on Windows as part of Microsoft's Games for Windows initiative, offering reliability, compatibility, and full support for play under Windows Vista™.

Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary will be available on Xbox 360 - episodically - from September. The Games for Windows® and PlayStation 2 versions have now been released worldwide, with both versions currently at No.1 in the UK and Germany in their respective charts, and No.1 in France on PC. A PSP version is due soon and a Nintendo Wii version is in development.

In order to access Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary downloadable episodic content for Xbox 360, players will require a Lara Croft Tomb Raider Legend disc. The episodes will cost 2400 Microsoft points for all four episodes, and will be released in two separate launches. Episodes 1 & 2 will be released in September and episodes 3 & 4 will follow shortly afterwards. The Croft Manor level will be free to download with both sets of episodes. Additional Tomb Raider Anniversary downloadable content will also become available for purchase on Marketplace to support the launch of Tomb Raider Episodic such as picture packs and theme packs."

That was taken from Tomb raider Chronicles website. The things is, to be able to DOWNLOAD TR anniversary, it does state that you will have to have the full retail version of Tom raider Legend. So If you decide to get TR Legend, you will be able to download TR Anniversary.
If you are not keen on the downloading side of things or you dont want/have a copy of TR Legend, TR Anniversary will be available to buy (instore) later in the year! :)

Definitely worth getting. I really enjoyed the game and it was the first TR game for years that was actually anything like the very early games that were good.

This was my first 1,000 points out of a game. Thoroughly enjoyed it, even if the boss battles weren't quite my thing. I like the platforming more. Definitely recommended by this gamer.

i bought this from Asda for nine whole english pounds and Hitman: Blood Money for 12 quid. Both extremely good bargains from what I can see. I've not even got them out of the box (currently finishing Flatout) but at that price it's really rude not to.

Definately get this, good little game, for £9 cant go wrong. Sure you will be able to sell it on here for £5 or £6 after so will only really cost you a few quid.

Def worth it.

Really enjoyable and had a really good score.

There aren't to many next gen platformers at the moment, and this is a good one. For £9 it's a giveaway.

If you liked Tomb Raider, then i'd say you should enjoy Legend.

I actually bought TRA for the PS2 when it came out and it was great fun to live through the experience of the first TR again. There were a few elements I didn't care much for like the 'bullet time', boss battle game play and frustrating end level, but overall it impressed me enough in the TR franchise again that I picked up Legend for the PS2 when I saw it in Curry's for £9 a few months back, since at this point I didn't have xbox.

Although Legends felt shorter than TRA I thoroughly enjoyed it and could easily be tempted to pick it up for the 360 in ASDA tomorrow (when searching for BioShock) as I can't see myself holding onto the PS2 anymore and my niece loves running lara around her mansion.

I loved it, great game.

Only downside.........Its a bit on the short side.

I have this game and its OK.

I have not played it that much because I am trying to get more points on Crackdown.

Am I missing something?
Nope, not missing anything nofear, it's just that the price only applies instore. I was in my local ASDA on Wednesday and were still showing it as thirty something in the non-classic packaging. I've seen people discussing the price of 360 games in Asda on HotUKDeals and it seems that some stores are selling the games at £9-12 in store and others apparently aren't bothering. A quick call to another store from the entertainment desk though apparently sorts it out :smashin:

As for whether to buy TRL or not, at £9 you can't go wrong. I loved it when I got having never been a great TR fan. It is very short and that's about the only complaint I could hold against it, but for £9 that argument goes out the window. :)

Well, I've picked it up for £9 so I will blame you all if it is rubbish (only kidding). They'd run out of Bioshock though! (got it from Woolies in the end)

Definitely worth getting:thumbsup:

personally it wasnt my cup of tea i can see why others like it but £9 you cant go wrong even if you dont like it doesnt i dont think youll be hard pushed breaking even if you sell it here or ebay

Still full price in my local store :(
