Absolutely gutted this Guy was a legend and an inspiration to many musicians and genres of music.
Great production values on all his albums the Anthology will live on, in rotation in my household.
Very unexpected sad news.

LAPD backtracked about 10mins ago. Apparently they reported his death, looks like he may still be alive but with a DNR order.
"The LAPD has no information about the passing of singer Tom Petty. Initial information was inadvertantly provided to some media sources... However, the LAPD has no investigative role in this matter. We apologize for any inconvenience in this reporting."
Either way, very sad.
BBC Radio 5 Live news just reported that he's seriously ill after a cardiac arrest. BBC News clearly didn't trust the sources many other outlets did, so never reported the earlier situation.
Just noticed this, was unaware until now, hope of course there's no truth in it.

Ah man, that's no age at all. Another star has fallen. I never got to see him live; bet he put on an awesome show. RIP.
This was among the first seven inch singles I has as a teen.

Many years later I enjoyed Full Moon Fever in which I thought he did a great cover of I'll Feel A Whole Lot Better. But this rocks all the way doesn't it?
