I was thinking they missed the opportunity of a x over with the jack ryan series by not having Wendell Pierce reprise his James Greer roll. Yet one more departure from cannon
Although I wonder if Karen Greer is his daughter

It's a shame they don't follow the story of the book, as it was a great book, but i understand there is copyright uncertainty around who owns the rights for the books and their stories.

Saying that i don't get why they have used the books name, but it appears based on the trailers that nothing of the story has remained.

This and other Tom Clancy "adaptations" (yes, Shadow Recruit too) will the subject of next Tuesday's AVF Movies Podcast.
Stay tuned for the dedicated discussion thread and poll going live this Friday.

I'll definitely watch this, but can't say I'm excited now knowing it really has bugger all to do with the brilliant book.

Having not read the book, I'm quite looking forward to it. Jordan is appealing lead, so it might just be a good watch...

It may well be a good watch, but it could have been called 'No Guilt'

I had convinced myself it was a series.
Even less excited now

Looks like a wasted opportunity and not much more than a generic actioner then.

I'll still watch it but expectations well and truly dampened.

Enjoyed it, well directed, but a generic action thriller, and too predictable to work out the real villain (it’s always Guy) of the piece. An easy watch after that terrible Netflix horror.

7/10

Pretty much agree with that. Very watchable and entertaining, but more than a predictable in parts. Some good set pieces (especially a water based one) and there's a must watch post credits scene for fans of the Tom Clancy's books...
Just waiting on the all important official AVF forum before posting a detailed review.

Cash in on the name.
Absolutely no resemblance to the characters in the books
Other than the names. Shame

That's disappointing as it's a great book with well-written characters.

Yeah, as a film it was ok. I wont be going out of my way to watch it again
At least the other Clancy films were close to the source material
I am not even sure a 4h SnyderCut could improve it

We won't mention Shadow Recruit.

What are they doing, making all these "original"* stories when there's such great source material.

* Translation- Original means crap.

I didn't :rotfl:

I spose I did. I did include the batfleck one though
