It is OK for girls to be tomboys, seems to be acceptable to most. For a boy to be effeminate however is not generally acceptable. When a girl friend wears the boyfriends clothes it can look sexy but the other way around tends to looks ridiculous*. In a similar vein there are lots of films where 'boy' character turns out to be an attractive girl.

Girls can be 'boyish' in an attractive way; short hair, slim and small-chested and still considered to be sexy and straight. Think of the opposite position: An effeminate man with a flappy chest! I am not sure when, if ever, this inequality will be (or should be) ironed out.

Speak for yourself as I've never been attracted to a girl that looks like a bloke.

No, I was thinking more along the lines of Kiera Knightly in Bend it like Beckham

Doesn't look like a bloke to me. She's in that Natalie Portman class of thin girls with small boobs. I would....given the chance

    Nowt wrong with that.

I think that looking boyish is not to be confused with looking like a bloke, two different things. A girl can have 'boyish' attributes and still look great. A flat chest and short hair do not stop them looking great, see Kiera above. I am just trying to point out that the opposite case in a man, eg feminine traits, are not generally considered attractive to women. Smelly, have you got a view on this?

    You're asking an ape?? :D

Seriously it depends on what you call feminine attributes for a man I suppose. Its not necessarily man boobs  Someone women like men with long hair..long eyelashes...I know someone with very kissable lips  Some like a bum they can grab... I suppose its the whole package plus personal taste. As you said you can't describe Kiera Knightley as manlike despite having what you could say were typically boyish features. Similarly a man could have long eyelashes but still look like a bloke!

Totally agree though that whilst women can get away with wearing mens clothes it doesn't work the other way!!! Beckham in a sarong is about as far as you could go ;)

No, that is too far. Even men in skirts (AKA kilts) are suspect, royalty or not

Yeah well men aren't supposed to find them attractive.

You've obviously never worn one . Kilts are the proverbial fanny magnet. Every single time I've worn a kilt I've pulled no problem ..had to beat them off with a stick to be honest especially outside Scotland. ( unfortunately my kilt conspired in getting me married)

I reckon I could put my least succesful pal in a kilt and he'd go back home with some decent crumpet.

Kilts are the cure for adult male virginism pure and simple.

Don't worry about chicken legs either ...the thick socks and cut of highland dress create the illusion of rugby player calves. And go commando (unless its a family do). Someone always gives your kilt a lift fully expecting you to be decently covered underneath.

The look on their faces as they glimpse the vorpal sword : a mix of fear and attraction , is a delight to behold.

Why do you think they have a sporran? Its to store all the condoms you'll need.

I wouldn't describe myself as effeminate though, I'm into consumer electronics and hifi. :)

Agree 100%. Had to wear one to 3 weddings so far (scottish family), and wearing one when I'm giving my sister away at her wedding in August. She's a dancer. There will be lots of fit female dancers there. Shame the wife's coming too. :rotfl:

Ouch. :( She saw me type that.
