Still fairly new on these forums, on here all the time but rarely have anything to say as i'm not yet the proud owner of the above model, however, upon looking for the latest price for this I found this website and wanted to see if anyone could verify its price and reputation? I'd love to try and get J/Lewis to price match as they have a store but JL dont seem to stock this model according to there website.

    www.savastore.com/productinfo/product.aspx?catalog_name=Savastore&product_id=10279900&pid=206

Like I said, seemed to good to be true? But I could be wrong of course?

    thats an excellent price.
maybe it is too good to be true (proberly charge 500.00 for delivery).
the cheapest i've seen it is about 2500.00
worth checking out at that price but make sure its in stock otherwise u could be waiting ages and by this time other shops will have dropped the price.

Wow! I can't see how that's possible. Don't know the supplier but at least they have a retail outlet, so you've got somewhere to go when things go wrong :)

I notice they haven't got any of these in stock. I guess that means they can quote any price they like.

Makes me wonder if philips have dropped the price recently for there latest batch but will take a while to filter into peoples stock while they sell of the currant more expensive stock? Make sense? or doesnt it work like that?

Prices have dropped about a month ago. Over here in the Netherlands the 37" can be had for less than 3600 euros (delivered, installed and including 19% tax), which is about 2100 pounds. In Germany it's even less.

Im nearly at that point myself, just need to check what my commision is going to be like for the end of Feb and all going well I'll slap it on my never never!! What are the chances other internet sites will price match? Empire Direct for example? I suppose its not immediatly available they dont have to? Any Thoughts?

i was interested in a panasonic 32" lxd 1 lcd.
i saw it at lets go digital for £1450.00 and empire dircet had it on sale for £1700.00.
as i'm only minutes away from empire direct i phoned them to see if they would price match.
they said they couldn't as the difference in prices was too great.
so i suspect that u wouldn't had any joy with them, however its worth a call.

Sorry mate, meant give the price matching a go, not the change of heart on tv, im decided on that one don't worry!!

You may help me on one thing though, like i said before, i will want a new dvd player to go with it, are HD dvd players available yet? If not when do we know? or if so Which ones are? cant seem to clarify it? I did look at the Denon you mentioned but for my setup i need the 5.1 outputs, the next model up has them but cant really afford that just yet after the tv purchase!! Any others you might suggest?

Getting a bit keen now! Rang them again, now i've been told they order in specifc to requirements on this set, so If i place my order i'd be looking at approx 10 days for delivery? How's that sounds to all you out there? Worth the jump?

for that kind of money 10 days would'nt bother me one bit.is it the latest software thats in it?.i know there have been a lot of issues with the 32" over this.mabye worth asking around.it certainly seems like a bargin.if i had the cash i would have been definatley into buying it.

    regards machinehead

It seems that Digital Direct and Sound & Vision dont think that its very legitimate, there thoughts are that its either imported (as in grey import?) or that its graded stock? Now they've said all that im not so sure? What to do what to do? Im trying to get JL in cribbs to price match RGB at the mo on the 32PF9986, so its either that model at potentially £1860 with a 5 year warranty or this 37 model? Just thinking about it, in my living room i will be sat approx between 8 and 9 foot away, would that make the 37 bad news anyway?

I spoke to them again last thing this evening, the guy insisted that they were full uk spec and pal as normal and that they wern't graded versions, he said the only downside is the possible 10 day wait till they come in, but he said they were on order and will be in within that sort or timespan? then went on to say it's best to order sooner rather than later as the price may increase?

    Mark,

8-9 feet away is probably too close for a 37", especially with 'Normal' TV. Watching DVD's and HiDef will be fine. You'd probably be OK though.

Thanks Jimmy, thats kinda what i wanted to hear i guess, because im leaning more towards the 32, partly on the warranty issue, quite a valuable item i would say for 5 years. Lets just see what they say to me tomorrow when she told me they'd ring me back!?

Well, they've just come back to me, not bad timing either, they'll price the 32PF9986 at £1949 inc delivery and thats the 5 year warranty to, Any Good? I have also heard you can get a further discount if i was to have a JL credit card, anyone know if this is true? I dont have one but soon could have! :smashin:

Has anyone taken delivery of this model recently from JL, only im worried about this firmware thing, they have told me that if they have to exchange it, it will be subject to a 10% restocking fee as the unit isnt faulty? Dont fancy the £200 hit really, would smart a little!!

    Hi Mark,

I picked up my 32pf9986 from JL Reading on Monday. Firmware version 2.0. It came with the DVI adapter.
I have been assured by other members of this site that it should be ok to handle progressive scan. I am going to connect a Panny DMRE 85 to it this weekend.
